June, 2001

In June 2001, a National level workshop was conducted in New Delhi to reach the consensus.

March, 2003

Central Surveillance Unit (CSU) was established (at Nirman Bhawan) in Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

March, 2004

Expenditure Finance Committee approved the proposal for IDSP on 23rd March 2004 with an outlay of Rs. 408.36 Crore with 75% share coming from World Bank through soft credit under IDA.

Sept, 2004

Approval from Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) was got on 17th September 2004. The project Development Credit Agreement (DCA) was signed by the GOI and the World Bank on September 23, 2004.

Nov, 2004

World Bank funded project titled “Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP)” was Launched.

July, 2005

Development of comprehensive guidelines for involvement of private sector and medical colleges.

2005

For the operational ease, the administrative unit was relocated at NICD under the leadership of director NICD as Project Director (PD). A Senior officer (ADG level) was designated as National Project Officer (NPO) to coordinate the project activities.

Sept, 2005

VSAT installations initiated by IDSP through ISRO in phased manner.
